"I don't believe in magic" said the angel.

"Well I don't believe in angels" countered the conjurer.

"Ok. Just show me that trick one more time."

Jonny's mother hustled quickly past the old man on the park bench mumbling to himself, her son however stopped and stood staring with his mouth open; after a while his mother realised that Jonny was not hurrying along at her heels and turned back to find him. Never had she seen such intense concentration on her son's face as he stood watching the tramp carefully deal from an old, shabby deck of cards on to the bench.

"Come on Jonny, we've got to go, stop bothering the gentleman."

"But I'm watching the magic."

A flicker of a smile passed over the old man's face as he quickly finished the trick, winked at Jonny and made a shiny penny appear from behind his ear. Seconds later Jonny rushed off to his mother clutching his new treasure tightly in his tiny fist.

"It's a shame parents can't see angels" reflected the conjurer.

"It's a shame parents won't see magic" replied the angel.
