Nuns Get Their Hits Out!

There is just the possibility this month that for the first time ever an order of trappist (silent) nuns could be heading for chart success.

Naturally the nuns don't speak at all (thus rather spoiling the opportunities for radio interviews their publicist would have liked) but because the Internet is not specifically mentioned anywhere in their code of conduct they felt able to give us a brief interview. We communicated with Sister Mariah Ellenswich, who is the Mother Superior.

pravda So, this is a CD of nuns who never speak. Why is it being released? M.S. As a devout nun I had reservations myself, but I consented on condition that the money raised from sales of the CD is put into charitable causes. pravda That's wonderful. But what is on the CD? M.S. Well, although we cannot speak to one aonther, music is permitted, so long as it is silent. What we have done is recorded the silent music which echoes down the corridors of the convent. And it is beautiful music, inspired by our devotion and our profundity. pravda But can you hear anything at all on the CD? Presumably not? M.S. That's correct. But it has a CD-Rom section too, which is packed with wonderful images of serenity. pravda Don't tell me they're invisible. M.S. You are a clever young man! Catching on fast, too! pravda I'm wondering who's gone mad here: One of us must have. M.S. Quite so, and now if you will excuse me I have to bathe the tortoise. pravda OK!
